ask someone out：约某人出去

这种约会往往是往恋人方向发展的。

I’m going to ask that girl out. She’s really my type.

我想约那个女孩出去。她是我喜欢的类型。

You’ve been flirting with that girl the whole night. Are you going to ask her out or not?

你跟那个女孩儿都撩一个晚上了。你到底要不要约她出去？

Why not？为何不…?

why not后常常跟着动词词组：why not do sth，用于表示建议。

if you are so code, why not close the window?

既然你这么冷，为什么不把窗户关上呢？

If you are so sleepy, why not go to bed?

既然你这么困，为什么不去睡觉呢？

What if …? …怎么样？

what if后常常跟着要做某事的一句话，用于询问我干这件事或者发生某种情况，你觉得咋样？

What if I choose a yellow dress to go with this pair of boots?

要是我挑一条黄色的裙子来配这双鞋，你觉得怎么样？

What if I go to the gym in the morning? Then I can go to Ben’s with you in the afternoon.

要是我早晨去健身房呢？这样下午我就可以跟你一起去本家里了。

- What if they [aliens] do come hostile? 如果[外星人]真的来者不善，咋整？

- Then, god bless America. 真那样的话，上帝保佑美国。

My mind is blank. 我脑子里面一片空白。

常常用于表示情况紧急或者复杂，无法迅速做出判断，决定或者答案。

I don’t know how to answer Miss Green’s question. My mind is blank now.

我不知道该如何回答格林小姐的问题。我脑子里一片空白。

I don’t think I can make the decision right now. My mind is blank.

我觉得我现在不能做决定。我大脑一片空白。

What would you do if you were me? 如果你是我，你会怎么做？

这是个虚拟语气，用于询问对方在这种情形下会怎么做。与这句对应的是If I were you, I would …，也是虚拟语气，用于给对方建议。

I don’t know which one to do first, to clean the house or to do the laundry? What would you do if you were me?

我不知道先干哪个好，先打扫屋子还是先洗衣服？如果你是我，你先做哪个？

I don’t know if I should take the job offer. What would you do if you were me?

我不知道该不该接受那个职位邀请。要你是我的话，你接受吗？

How does … sound to you? 你觉得…怎么样？

这句 … 处通常是一个名词/动名词或者动名词短语，用于询问某事/某主意或者做某事咋样。

How does her suggestion sound to you?

你觉得她的建议怎么样？

I want to go to the new shopping mall this weekend. How does that sound to you?

这周末我想去新开的那个购物中心。你觉得咋样？

除了What would you do if you were me?，还可以说：

• Do you think … is a good idea?
• Do you have any ideas about …?
• Could you tell me what I should do?
• Which … do you think I should choose?
  e.g.
• Do you think going to that hill during the night is a good idea?
• Do you have any ideas about what we should get for Ann’s birthday?
• I have too many tasks to do every day. Could you tell me what I should do?
• Which one do you think I should choose? The red one or the purple one?
